Bio

Mensur Mandžuka is a senior software engineer at Loka, an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner, with over a decade of experience designing and building software solutions for more than 20 companies across Europe and North America—ranging from startups to Fortune 500 enterprises. His background spans industries including banking, medtech, e-commerce, and IoT. In recent years, Mensur has specialized in building scalable, high-performance, and cost-efficient systems on AWS. He holds the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional credential and is currently leading the implementation of a distributed machine learning system for a Class II medical device.

Outside of cloud engineering, Mensur has published multiple papers in biomedical engineering and is the creator and maintainer of Moji Lijekovi, one of the most widely used pharmacy applications in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In event-driven systems, understanding how data flows through decoupled services is essential—but not always straightforward. Distributed tracing provides the visibility needed to debug issues, monitor performance, and maintain operational resilience at scale.

In this session, we’ll explore how to implement distributed tracing across event-driven architectures on AWS, including scenarios where events originate from external sources like Apache Kafka. You’ll see how AWS CloudWatch and AWS X-Ray can be used together to trace asynchronous workflows involving Lambda, SNS, SQS, and EventBridge—even when they interact with off-AWS systems.
